A protein diet may make people skeptical because a lot of people think that protein rich foods are always high in fat and calories but in actuality it is only a few more calories more than fruits and vegetables.

The thing is that protein isn’t an on the go food like most other foods are. Fish, meat, dairy, and beans aren’t as convenient as grabbing a fruit or carbs. They only quick protein is usually fried and full of fat and is unhealthy.

Foods that are high in protein take longer to digest which makes you feel fuller quicker and longer. They also require more work to digest and use which burns more calories. Protein is extra vital for those who are working out and getting in shape. Protein helps you lose fat and build lean muscle which will get your body toned and burning calories when you’re not active.

Not all proteins are the same however. Some proteins like nuts, whole grains, and vegetables do not contain all the essential amino acids your body needs to help build muscle. The best proteins to build muscle are found in animal products. They best foods to eat are white chicken, lean beef, turkey, pork tenderloin, and low fat dairy. You obviously can’t be carrying these foods with you everywhere you go so here are a few high protein snacks for on the go:

Roasted Soy Nuts

Soy nuts are a nice alternative to wither cashews and peanuts and have 17 grams per ¼ cup.

Protein Powder

Making a protein shake in the morning can be a great way to take in needed protein. You can also bring some to work to make a shake during the day for energy of to curb your hunger

Energy Bars

Energy bars are a great snack to take with you anywhere and have available.

Hard-Boiled Eggs

Boil a dozen eggs and keep them in the fridge for when you want a snack or eat them with a meal to add some protein.

String Cheese

You can have string cheese by itself or add it with a fruit or other snack to hold you up until your next meal.

A protein diet is great for those who are already counting calories and working out to get in shape. Protein is essential for building lean muscle. Try out any of these snacks to help get some more protein into your diet during the day.
